2017: New Kupendiza Products Last Year & A New Love Affair With Isla Mujeres, Mexico

At the end of December, I was able to acquire our first purses from the women at Isla Mujeres Women's Beading Co-op. This took some doing, but here they are!

Isla Mujeres brings the unique aesthetic of the Mayan heritage into Kupendiza's product family, something we have wanted since the beginning. Everything bright and beautiful about the Mayans is reflected in these bags. IMHO.

Alex's background is in operations consulting - specifically, he helps companies streamline their operations and business processes using technology. He's on board to contribute logistical and operational support. In other words, to hold my feet to the fire and make sure Kupendiza moves forward! After the spring Coterie show in New York City (Kupendiza's first big-city, fashion industry mega-event at the Javits Center ), I stayed with Alex & company in the Bronx. I'd driven up from...

Since the last time we spoke...Kupendiza at 2 years old!

We at Kupendiza are not millenials (although we're recruiting!). We've been out a lot, being present with people; and we can't quite get the hang of real-time reporting via SnapChat, etc.  So we do these roundups. Please bear with us. We'll be brief! THE YEAR IN PICTURES (reverse chronological): We teamed up with the amazing Le Look Bags of Lagos, Nigeria for this year's Congressional Black Caucus' ALC (Annual Legislative Conference)! This is the annual meeting of the African-American members of the United States Congress. THAT gave Kupendiza a bunch of firsts. It was a first for us to: exhibit our handmade handbags at...
